What do we offer?
Being free being me is a democratic educational project outdoors for children between the ages of 2 to 5. We follow the EYFS framework.
We believe in a self directed learning approach, in positive relationships and mutual respect.
We are an educational project which fully involves children in the decision making process of what and how they learn. We do this by allowing children to play and learn in nature following democratic principles.
Your child will grow to appreciate who he/she is and to focus on all the good things around them and within themselves. This will give them an incredible tool in life to deal with difficulties and to take a challenge with resilience.
We provide a safe environment where they connect with others in equality to share, negotiate, solve problems and learn new skills.
Our planned activities are flexible in order to accommodate children’s wishes and ideas. The 7 areas which are part of the Early Years Foundation Stage Framework will be set every day in the woodland through different activities and workstations.
Communication and Language, Physical Development, Personal, Social and Emotional Development, Numeracy, Literacy, Understanding the World, Expressive Arts and Design.

Assessments and gathering evidence for Ofsted
Children are regularly and informally assessed so that we can give families and Ofsted an account of their experience, learning and development with us while in our care. These assessments also enables us to set new goals and to highlight any areas in which your child might need extra support.
Assessments are gathered in a non-intrusive way with the use of Tapestry software, an online journal in which we record your child’s progress on goals within the 7 areas of learning in terms of emerging, established and exceeding. We will provide families with several ongoing assessments throughout the year: Autumn, Spring and Summer reports.
Age bands established in the document Development Matters as a guideline are:
Birth to 11 months
8 to 20 months
16 to 26 months
22 to 36 months
30 to 50 months
40 to 60+ months
Other assessments we provide:
-Baseline at entry
-2 year old check
